Dr Ritu Nalubola

Deputy Director for the Office of Policy, Legislation and International Affairs, US FDA

Dr. Ritu Nalubola is the Deputy Director of the Office of Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs, within FDA’s Office of the Commissioner. In this role, she supports the Deputy Commissioner and FDA leadership to advance FDA’s policy, legislative, and global programs, as well as engagements with Congress and global and domestic partners. Prior to assuming this role, Dr. Nalubola was based in Brussels for nearly five years serving as the Director of FDA’s Europe Office, advancing the priorities of both the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the region. An FDA veteran of more than two decades, Dr. Nalubola served various roles, including as a senior policy advisor leading FDA’s efforts to support innovation in agricultural biotechnology, nanotechnology, and other emerging science-policy areas. She is currently engaged in the Office of the Commissioner’s efforts to consider challenges and opportunities for the use of AI in FDA’s regulatory and administrative operations and decision-making
