Jonny Shipp

Senior Advisor, The Internet Commission

The Internet Commission is a non-profit founded by Jonny Shipp in 2018. It works internationally to help digital organisations understand their impact on society and improve their trust and safety practices. In 2022, the Internet Commission became part of the Trust Alliance Group, which has been providing independent dispute resolution services for over 20 years. The UK Energy Ombudsman and the UK Communications Ombudsman are also part of the group.

Retained to lead on European digital policy and dispute settlement for digital platforms, Jonny is a Brussels-based strategy consultant and accredited mediator. He helps business, government, and other organisations to create new possibilities by exploring their own and their stakeholders’ interests. In leadership roles at Telefónica (2003 – 2017), Jonny pioneered approaches to online safety, data, and digital trust. He served as a senior board member at the Internet Watch Foundation (2010 – 2016), and as a School Governor he supported the turnaround of three London schools (2009 – 2020).
