Jean-François Copé

Deputy Chairman, Fondation Prospective & Innovation, Mayor of Meaux, former Budget Minister of France

China—and the United States. In this vein and as a member of parliament, Jean-François Copé chaired the France-USA parliamentary friendship group from 2012 to 2017.

A great defender of economic liberalism, he always supported policies aiming at corporate growth, diminution of taxes, and massive R&D initiatives.

Jean-François Copé has taught Economics at Sciences Po and conducted a class on Public Finances at the University of Paris VIII.

In 1995, he was elected for the first time as mayor of Meaux, located within the Paris metropolitan area. Since its creation in 2003, he serves as Chairman of the Pays de Meaux Agglomeration Community (110 000 inhabitants). He has one priority : economic development of the airport and aeronautics sector thanks to its proximity to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle international airport. Jean-François Copé also spearheaded the project to create the Musée de la Grande Guerre in Meaux, Europe's largest First World War museum with over 1.2 million visitors since its opening.

Lawyer in business law at the Paris Bar since 2007, he is also a member of the law firm Everlaw and tax. He is a committed writer who publishes numerous political and economic essays, as well as several books. Among his latest work, in 2013, a book entitled “La Bataille de Marne” (The Battle of Marne) reconstructs a historic confrontation that changed the course of history. He subsequently published in 2016 “Le Sursaut Français” (French Awakening) in which he sets out his vision for France. Jean-François Copé also shows a great interest in Artificial Intelligence. As a matter of fact, he published in 2019 a book entitled « L’IA va-t-elle aussi tuer la démocratie? » (Will AI destroy democracy?), co-written with Laurent Alexandre.

He is Deputy President of the Foundation Prospective Innovation since December 2022, chaired by Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former Prime Minister.
