Simon Reetz

Case Handler, Directorate J, Digital Platforms, DG COMP, European Commission

Simon Reetz is a case handler at the Digital Platforms directorate at the European Commission’s DG Competition, tasked with the implementation of the Digital Markets Act. He joined the directorate in early 2023 and has since been involved in the designation of gatekeepers as well as the enforcement of the DMA’s obligations. Prior to joining the DMA team, Simon worked as a case handler in the merger control unit of DG Competition’s transport directorate, most notably on several high profile airline mergers. Reetz has a background in European and International Law as well as European Studies. Prior to joining the European Commission, he also worked at the German Chancellery, the German Permanent Representation to the EU as well as an international law firm.
